| Essex, by Steinway, Baby Grand SOLD Model: EGP-155 Length: 5'1" Serial Number: E105751 Date of Manufacture: 2006 - made in Korea Black High Gloss Finish Matching Padded Adjustable Bench The Essex line of pianos was established in 2000 by Steinway & Sons, designed by Steinway engineers, and initially manufactured by Young Chang in South Korea. Steinway's stated purpose in creating this line was to supply Steinway dealers with quality, mid-priced pianos. In April 2006, Steinway entered into a deal with pianos made in China by the Pearl River Piano Group. The collaboration with Young Chang continued when both companies made the upright piano lines in China; and grand pianos were made by Young Chang in Korea and also by Pearl River in China. By Spring 2011 all Essex pianos were being manufactured in China by Pearl River. The Steinway-designed Essex piano incorporates the latest design specifications and engineering standards from the Steinway & Sons research and development team. By utilizing specially engineered materials, large-scale production techniques, and carefully selected manufacturing environments, the Essex is able to deliver a level of musical performance previously unattainable in its price range. In keeping with Steinway's commitment to excellence, Steinway & Sons provides technical assistance for the production of Essex pianos, to ensure that they are made to the specifications established by Steinway. In addition, every Essex instrument is inspected by a team of highly experienced Steinway & Sons trained technicians before it leaves the factory. Due to the Steinway-designed rim shape, Essex grand pianos are wider at the tail than most other pianos of the same length. This allows for a larger soundboard area, producing a richer sound. The Steinway-designed solid spruce soundboard is also thinner and tapered, rather than uniformly thick, to vibrate more freely and provide more tonal volume with longer sustain. Essex pianos have a Steinway-designed, all wood (no plastic) action for proven durability, and heightened responsiveness and control. In addition, all Essex pianos feature a Steinway-designed tuning pin block, strings, plate, backposts/braces, bridges, as well as many Steinway-specified parts and manufacture procedures. As a result, the Essex is, quite simply, the best piano available in its price range today. Excellent overall condition and little wear including: finish, keys, hammer and damper felt, bass and treble strings, bridges and soundboard, and inner moving parts of the action.
