Piano Technicians'
Hammer Voicing Tools
A hammer file, used to reshape the hammer felt and eliminate
string grooves caused by wear.
A voicing tool, fitted with special needles. The needles are inserted into
specific areas of the hammer felt, decreasing density and increasing
flexibility in hammers that have too bright or too harsh a tone.
A hammer ironer, when heated, is used to pack down hammer felt,
increasing density and producing a brighter tone.
A lacquer-based hardening agent, applied to hammers that require a brighter tone.
